ROCK HEREOS

Music, Music, Music, We All Love… and Rock out too!

This is a music blog, an updated account of some of the greatest guitar players, and musical minds to go down through the years. Some you will know, and some are new and rising so get ready to be taken back to some awesome music legends. And be prepared to meet some rising new stars.

To start things out I am taking you to Guitar Crossroads, and you will feel the intense power and guitar work of a master, Mr. Eric Clapton, as he shows you how “Cocaine” is played in concert, and can you dig his guitar, the colors. He is the Master, everyone else follows Eric.

This next flick shows how much Eric can play the blues in this powerful, Otis Rush Classic, called “Groaning the Blues”, so damn powerful and you can see how much Eric loves the blues.

Yes let’s see what makes Eric tick, as he tackles a song that was written by Robert Johnson called “Crossroads”. On the stage with Eric or some young guitar cats that know they are in the real presence of a legend, I mean, standing and playing next to Eric is a treat in it self. So don’t give up them guitar lessons you may play like him one day in your dreams.

This next video is for effect, showing a British record being dropped on the turntable, Decca, and it is the Bluesman John Mayall playing and singing his rendition of “Parchman Farm”.

Now from a young group called “Myownmedineband” based in St.Louis, a group driven by flashy young guitarist, that seems to have all the talent that we look for in musicians, his group is up beat and they play all kinds of music, here Tom Daoukas shows he has the power to play “Purple Haze” and just for kicks, plays the guitar behind his back ,a little showman in him, don’t you think?.

“Purple Haze” with Jimi Hendrix in Atlanta in 1970,
Was not as spectacular, but it was true Hendrix in style.
Watch Jimi play “Purple Haze”

My favorite song Hendrix every put out, was “Foxy Lady”, and if you can learn this song, you are on your way to stardom, check out all the Marshall Amps behind Jimi. It was POWER that you were witnessing.

What is amazing, was the fact that I had to take a female to a hotel in St.Louis, give her what she wanted, and for this in return I was provided from row tickets to see, Quicksilver Messenger Service and the guitarist John Cipolinna known as “The Cobra”. If you have not heard Quicksilver, where you and what were is wrong with your life.
Watch John and Quicksilver in concert, and then let me know what you think. This was from the famous Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. “All I ever wanted to do” was the song.

Let’s see John with Quicksilver Messenger Service back in 1969, the same year as Woodstock. This is called “Mona” check John’s amp around the 2:13 mark he built it himself with Standel and Fender Amps and Organ Horns.

How many guitarist have been to school to learn to read and write music ?.

Then again how many great musicians have learned playing a record, over and over until they have every lick down. Back in the 60's that is what most guitarist did, learn from listening over and over to a record. It was hard but damn well worth the time when they played the music back in front of a crowd are just in their living rooms.

Thanks,

Tino Patti
